There are a variety of ways you can help with the farm show and all of them are valuable to the organization and rewarding to you the volunteer. Click on the green links below to see what volunteer positions are open and where you can help. The different positions are listed in red.
Much work is done ahead of time with set-up. Set up for 2018 will be on Friday December 29th and Friday January 5th.
On a daily basis, we need several volunteers to talk with visitors about the alpacas. These folks will be located in the pens with the animals and talk non-stop for about 4 hours. We are one of the busiest places in the farm show and these animals are what bring the people to us. Share your love for them with thousands!
We also need demonstrators to show off their talent at spinning, weaving or needle felting. Maybe you have a talent we don’t even know about, as long as it’s fiber related, we’d love to have you show it off.
Our PA Preferred Store not only showcases the beautiful yarns that are produced each year in our Yarn Project, but we offer the opportunity for members to sell their hand-made fiber products. We need sales clerks that can help customers pick the perfect items and explain the benefits of alpaca fiber. If you are interested in submitting your products to the store, click here.
As an Education Station, we talk with hundreds of children, teaching them alpaca facts and stamp their “passport” as they make their way around the Farm Show learning about all the things that are found in Pennsylvania Agriculture. This is a great job for someone who might not want to be on their feet.
We also have a slot for “floaters” who are willing to fill in wherever they may be needed that particular shift.
Pick a date below that you can help – all positions are listed by day
|Saturday January 6th||Sunday January 7th|
|Monday January 8th||Tuesday January 9th|
|Wednesday January 10th||Thursday January 11th|
|Friday January 12th||Saturday January 13th|
PAOBA also offers Housing for volunteers who are willing to work at least 4 shifts over a 2 day period.
Last but not least, don’t forget the friendly alpacas that come to stay at our booth for a few days. They really are the highlight of the show!
Without our volunteers we could never make this huge event happen. Thank you in advance!
